Why MOQs Exist
Every private label perfume run requires a dedicated compounding batch, a filling line changeover, and a die-cut packaging setup. Those fixed costs get divided across the units in the run. Below a certain volume, per-unit price becomes commercially unworkable for both sides.
Typical UAE MOQs by Category
Bottled spray perfume: 500 units per SKU (private label), 100 – 300 (white label from catalogue).
Attar / concentrated oil: 1 kg per fragrance.
Oud oil: 100 g for aged single-origin, 1 kg for commercial blends.
Bakhoor: 25 kg per fragrance in bulk, 500 units in finished retail cartons.
How Per-Unit Price Scales
A 500-unit private label run of a 50 ml eau de parfum typically lands between AED 28 – 45 per finished unit including bottle, cap and box. At 1,000 units the same SKU drops to AED 22 – 35. At 5,000 units it drops to AED 14 – 22. The pricing curve flattens sharply after 10,000 units.
Ways to Enter Below MOQ
White label: pick a fragrance from your manufacturer's catalogue. No compounding fee, MOQ from 100 units.
Mix & match: for white label, combine 2 – 3 catalogue scents to reach a single MOQ.
Small-batch surcharge: some factories accept 200 – 400 unit runs with a 15 – 30 % per-unit premium.
FAQs
What is the lowest realistic MOQ to launch a perfume brand?
100 units on white label, 500 units on private label. Anything lower is usually a retail decant operation, not a manufactured brand.
Can I split my MOQ across sizes (30ml, 50ml, 100ml)?
For private label, no — each size is a separate SKU with its own bottle mould and filling setup. For white label, sometimes yes.
Do MOQs go down over time as I reorder?
Yes. Once a formulation is archived, reorders can typically start at 250 units because compounding no longer needs a full new batch.
